Hasbrouck Heights, a borough in Burgan County, NJ, and an inner-ring suburb of New York City, is situated on 1.5 square miles approximately 10 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan and 8 miles west of Upper Manhattan.
It is a small community with friendly residents, many who work in Manhattan and enjoy the short commute to the city by New Jersey Transit bus or train service.
Hasbrouck Heights has quite a few older homes with lots of charming features as well as circa 1950’s cape cods and ranches on the smaller side. It is considered to be more affordable to live in Hasbrouck Heights than in some of the nearby communities.
As of the 2020 United States census, the borough’s population was 12,125, an increase of 283 (+2.4%) from the 2010 census count of 11,842.
The Hasbrouck Heights School District serves public school students in Hasbrouck Heights and Teterboro in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district’s schools include two K-5 elementary schools, Euclid Elementary and Lincoln Elementary, Hasbrouck Heights Middle School for grades 6-8 and Hasbrouck Heights High School.
Students are also eligible to attend the secondary education programs offered by the Bergen County Technical Schools, which include the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, and the Bergen Tech campus in Teterboro or Paramus.
Frank Sinatra lived in Hasbrouck Heights, and is probably the borough’s most famous resident. They say his house was stalked day and night by female fans.
