From Hasbrouck Heights Patch
Hasbrouck Heights High School is one of the best in the country according to Newsweek’s top 2,000 best high schools list, released Monday.
The high school ranks #1309, which according to Newsweek, means the school is one of the best at preparing students for college which is what its criteria for determining the rankings was based on.
The criteria used by Newsweek included – graduation rate, college acceptance rate, advanced exams (AP, IB and AICE tests) taken per student, average SAT or ACT score, average advanced placement score, and percentage of students enrolled in at least one advanced placement class.
Newsweek asked more than 5,000 high schools across the country to report their data from the 2010-11 school year. About 2,500 schools responded, and were ranked based on weighted calculations of the criteria listed above.
On the local level, Hasbrouck Heights is among 18 others from Bergen County to make Newsweek’s top 2,000 high schools list.
Coming out at the top of all Bergen County based schools was the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack ranking at #26 in the entire country based on this list and not too far behind, Bergen County Technical High School down the hill in Teterboro which ranked #74.
