Walmart is opening soon in a commercial tract at the Teterboro-Hasbrouck Heights border. The Pascack Valley line once attracted many commuters to the stop on the Teterboro side, but boardings have gone down to 63 per day, the parking lot can hold only 27 cars…only 17 parking permits are sold. WHY?

NJ Transit built an 8 foot fence on the Hasbrouck Heights side that blocks access to this 45 minute trip to Manhattan. It was built as a safety measure to prevent commuters from walking across the tracks.
With the new Walmart opening things may change! NJ Transit would like to see a footbridge go over the tracks from Hasbrouck Heights to Teterboro. Of course, financing is always an issue in these situations, but with so many more visiting the new Walmart, and the soon to be developed Costco will find a rail entry and access to be a great solution!
Safety, is of course, the main concern. Hopefully the townships and NJ Transit and the newly developed stores will find a solution to help our communities.
