The Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club has donated $500 to the Hasbrouck Heights Library for the purchase of large print books to be kept in the Lions Den area of the library. Library Director Mimi Hui said it has been the Lions Club’s generous annual tradition to donate monies toward the efforts of building a large print material collection. “One of the worthy humanitarian endeavors of the Lions Club is supporting individuals that are visually impaired,” Hui said. In 2008, the Lions Club donated a magnification reading machine to the library for residents to use. In October 2009, to further the support of the local library, the large print section of the library was renamed “The Lions Den.” “The Lions annual contribution truly does help the library extend its outreach into the community and surrounding towns,” Hui said. “We are most appreciative for their ongoing continued support.” The cost of a large print book is more than the average book a consumer normally pays, Hui said. For each book purchased with the funds, the library makes a point to plate each title in recognition of the Lions generous gift.
